Trauma/CC Surgeon Medical Director opening in New York
Located in the foothills of the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains
70 miles to Albany & 90 miles to Syracuse NY
Service area of 600,000 people
Full time, permanent opening
Applicants should be Board Certified in General Surgery as well as in Surgical Critical Care. Previous leadership in an ACS verified trauma program is preferred. An ideal candidate will be energetic with a desire to innovate the rural trauma experience. Medical Center serves a complex and hardworking community. The Trauma Medical Director will elevate our current system from a Level III to a Level II Trauma Center by providing the latest in treatment options and critical patient care for our patients.
Pertinent Highlights Include:
Currently ACS COT Certified Level III Trauma Center with multiple regional referral centers
180 Bed Primary Hospital with 15 bed ICU
Full Anesthesia coverage in house
Compliment services include: neurosurgery, orthopedics, interventional radiology, gastroenterology
Full Support Staff including PAs with Surgical Residents and Medical Student Interaction

Excellent collaborative relations with emergency department personnel

Key Responsibilities:
Will organize and lead all Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) meetings
Will work with Trauma Program Manager and general surgery residents to review of all trauma mortalities, and morbidities with potential areas of improvement.
Will work to facilitate good relations and closed loop communication with subspecialty liaisons/services.
Will oversee quality improvement projects annually
Will represent Trauma/SCC team at all relevant hospital leadership meetings, the regional EMS committee, and any other ad-hoc meetings relevant to trauma/SCC processes
