Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center has a Trauma Surgeon opportunity. This position is part of a hospital employed Acute Care Surgery group of 7 surgeons that provide 24/7 trauma and emergency general surgery coverage. Schedule consists of 24 hour in-house call approximately 5 days a month including weekend rotation. This group also functions as intensivists for our surgical patients. About one fourth of the surgical practice is elective, based on patients referred from the community and seen by us in the emergency room. Seven Physician Assistants who are also in house 24/7 and assist us in the OR and ICU are members of this group as well. Candidates must be BC/BE in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is a 411-bed hospital which provides tertiary care for the region. EMMC has between 800 to 1,000 acute trauma admissions per year, with a penetrating trauma rate of 12%, the rest being blunt trauma. Our service averages about 1,050 major operative cases per year consisting of elective, emergent and urgent cases. The Trauma team has excellent support with separate Maxillofacial, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery and Vascular Surgery services working closely with this team. Other surgical services available to patients include ENT, Ophthalmology and Urology as well Bariatric Surgery and Surgical Oncology. A new state of the art operating room just opened in October 2017.

Our schools rank among New England's finest. Bangor is the regional hub for arts and commerce. It is a great place to live and work.
