Assignment Type: Mix of Office visits, call coverage, and Surgery procedures
Reason for need: Fulltime General Surgeon leaving due to family matters.
Census/Case Load: Avg 20-25 patients per day in clinic and average 800 surgical
cases annually.
EMR: Paper Charting in Clinic / McKesson-Allscripts in Hospital (Dragon Dictation
available at Hospital)
8 OR Suites & 4 Procedure Rooms
Call Rotation: 1:3 (on average 10 call shifts per month)
General Surgery Services include:
- Alimentary tract - esophagus, stomach, small bowel, large bowel
- Abdomen and its contents - diaphragm, biliary tract, liver, pancreas, spleen
- Breast, skin and soft tissue - benign and malignant problems of the breast, skin and
- soft tissues
- Head and neck surgery - including trauma, vascular, congenital and cancerous
- disorders
- Vascular surgery - arteries and veins, excluding the vessels in the brain, heart, and
- lungs
- Endocrine surgery - thyroid and parathyroid glands, the pancreas and adrenal glands
- Surgical oncology - including coordinated management of the cancer patient
- Comprehensive management of trauma - all phases of care
- Complete care of the critically ill patient - with underlying surgical condition
