General Surgery Opportunity
This is an employed position with a physician practice management organization with 32 physicians and 13 mid-level providers. Practice is designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center, providing enhanced access to health care services for all members of the community, and allowing the practice to employ providers holding H-1B and J-1 visas.

Hospital is 65-bed acute care with a service population of 35,000 people.
Hospital has received a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home designation from the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA). The vast majority of providers are already recognized by the NCQA for the Heart, Stroke and Diabetes recognition programs. Health center participates in the MaineCare Health Homes initiative, as well as the Maine Community Accountable Care Organization, a Medicare shared savings program.


Unlimited potential exists for a General Surgeon to join this practice as they expand their health centers to serve additional patients and communities. The communities they serve are economically, culturally, and socially inviting. Community prides itself on the high quality of its public school system, extremely low crime rate and family-oriented community activities. The community boasts a new multi-million dollar Recreation and Wellness Center that offers programs and activities for all ages.

General Surgery candidate will receive a competitive salary, generous health and welfare benefits package, professional liability insurance, relocation assistance, licensing, DEA registration, and medical education loan repayment (if applicable). Physicians also receive an annual allowance for professional society memberships, subscriptions (print and online), and Continuing Medical Education. Immigration assistance provided by expert legal counsel is provided at the expense of the practice for candidates needing a J-1 waiver, H-1B visa or permanent resident (green) card.

General Surgery Profile:
 This health organization's primary care offices are conveniently located in six communities, and provide a referral source for the general surgery practice. The general surgeon works out of a dedicated office conveniently located at the Medical Center.
 There is a dedicated Urology practice at the Health Center, in addition to Ophthalmology and Occupational Medicine practices off-site, all staffed by Board Certified physicians. Pathology, Orthopedic Surgery/Sports Medicine and Hematology/Oncology groups are also based on the campus of the Medical Center.
 5 Internists (including 3 Hospitalists) and 5 Family Practitioners
 Hospitalists provide 24/7 inpatient coverage, including weekends
 Full-time Family Nurse Practitioners and Certified Physician Assistants
 Access to outpatient clinics including Cardiology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Neurosurgery, Ear, Nose and Throat, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Gastroenterology, and Rheumatology, along with diabetes counseling and nutritional therapy
 Health center has a telephone triage system to screen after-hours calls.

The Opportunity:
 Status: Full-time: 5 days per week, including operating time at the hospital.
 Patients: Patient profile includes the full range of ages and health status, with a large cohort of elderly patients with co-morbidities
 Call: Rotation – 1:3

Qualifications of applicants:

* Board Certified or board eligible on defined track to become Board Certified
* Allopathic and osteopathic physicians will be considered equally
* American born and trained physicians and foreign-born physicians who have completed a US residency and/or fellowship will be considered equally. H-1B and J-1 visa candidates will be considered.
* In-practice physicians, residents or fellows, and military-trained physicians will be considered equally
