Children’s Hospital of Michigan (CHM) Surgical Services is conducting a search for an academic pediatric cardiovascular surgeon to join a well established Department of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery.

Candidates should be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery in the subspecialty of Congenital Cardiac Surgery. Qualified applicants will be required to have completed a Pediatric Congenital Fellowship and applicants with 3 – 5 years experience post pediatric cardiac surgical fellowship are preferred. Applicants should have some experience in all aspects of pediatric cardiovascular surgery, surgery for adult congenital heart disease, the pediatric application of ventricular assist devices and pediatric cardiac transplantation. Candidates who meet the UNOS criteria to become a pediatric cardiac transplant Surgeon are preferred.

The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery supports the academic and educational missions of CHM and Central Michigan University School of Medicine. The successful candidate should have an established record of scholarly achievement with excellence in teaching and research.

Children’s Hospital of Michigan (CHM, Detroit, MI) is a free-standing, 228-bed hospital founded in 1886. CHM is dedicated to providing high quality pediatric care in a caring, efficient and family-centered environment. With more than 40 pediatric medical and surgical specialty services, CHM draws patients from nearly every Michigan County, 39 additional states, and 22 countries annually and provides the highest level of pediatric specialty care available for children. CHM has multiple ambulatory facilities throughout southeast Michigan. A new 225,000-square foot critical care tower opened at the main campus in 2017. This tower includes a new Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Diagnostic services unit and Emergency Services. Also included is a new, state-of-the-art cardiac operating room. The CHM Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgical program serves as a major referral center in Michigan for all aspects of pediatric cardiovascular surgery, including cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory assist.
