A progressive health care network in central New York and major teaching affiliate of Columbia University, is seeking a qualified Program Director to lead our General Surgery Residency Program. The Program Director for the General Surgery residency will oversee the educational and clinical activities of 17 residents in a five-year General Surgery residency program. She or he, together with the General Surgery faculty, and in coordination with the other GME leaders, will be responsible for the overall leadership for the General Surgery residents. The Program Director will lead the recruitment, will oversee the residents and the curriculum and the Clinical Competency Committee for the residency. Together with the Core Faculty in General Surgery, the Program Director will provide regular feedback and evaluations for the residents in the program and will provide the required documentation for resident advancement via milestone reporting to the ACGME. The General Surgery Program Director will supervise the teaching activities of 5 Core Faculty members and any visiting faculty members who come in to attend on a periodic basis from around the network. The Program Director will have 30% time devoted to the educational and administrative duties of the residency program. The reporting relationships will be to the Director of GME/DIO for residency activities and to the Chief of General Surgery for individual clinical activities. The Program Director will have surgical and clinical responsibilities that include: leadership role in Trauma Program, acute care surgery and participate in the general surgery/trauma call pool.
