Job Description

Last Update: 10/12/20

The Family Medicine Residency Program at one of the largest hospital systems in the nation and the largest not-for-profit acute care provider in California is dedicated to your career growth and to educating future family medicine physicians. Located in the heart of Southern California at Dignity Health California Hospital Medical Center, this ACGME-accredited, unopposed 24-resident program trains family physicians to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to a diverse, urban, medically-underserved population and to guide trainees to excel in both academic and clinical medical careers. The program is committed to advancing healthcare through education, research, medical service, and community.

The Family Medicine Residency, in affiliation with UCLA School of Medicine, seeks a dynamic, visionary leader to help shape the future direction of this vital and well-established residency program. Reporting to the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), the Family Medicine Residency Program Director will continue to ensure excellence in resident training, support faculty in teaching and scholarship, and provide clinical services that address the healthcare needs of the region. The Program Director must possess the required specialty expertise, as well as documented educational and administrative abilities, to carry out the responsibilities of the role and to achieve the strategic goals and objectives of the program and community-based hospital. Additionally, the Program Director must have a heart for working with a diverse patient population.

The Program Director is expected to integrate the Family Medicine Residency Program with physician practices and hospital clinical services in a manner that enhances value and quality, and that promotes an optimal environment for professional practice and medical education.

The Family Medicine Residency Program enjoys a strong affiliation with our community-based partners. On various rotations, residents spend time seeing indigent patients at affiliated medical centers, providing comprehensive family-oriented medical care.

As the new Family Medicine Residency Program Director, not only will you experience our commitment to delivering the next generation of excellent healthcare, you'll practice in a warm and supportive environment where you can grow professionally and personally.
