The Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, Fellowship trained Cardiothoracic Radiologist to join the Department of Radiology.

The University of Iowa is the primary teaching hospital in the Health System in Iowa with over 700-beds. The hospital is the only Level 1 trauma center in the state and is the major tertiary or quaternary referral center for complex medical and surgical disease for most of the state and western Illinois.

The Department is experiencing vibrant growth within all sectors of radiology; Now with over 40 staff physicians, 13 fellows, 15 Ph.D. researchers, and 33 residents within University of Iowa Radiology Department. The Department also offers state-of-the-art equipment including two (2) FORCE CTs, a dual energy EDGE CT, six (6) Clinical MDCT scanners, six (6) clinical MR scanners (including a 3T), and two (2) PET-CT scanners. Plans to install a PET/MR are underway.

Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Support the clinical and academic activities of the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Imaging Section

  • Responsible for all aspects of cardiovascular & pulmonary imaging including conventional chest radiography, CT, MRI, and cardiovascular imaging.

  • The Section deals with all aspects of chest imaging including CT guided chest/lung biopsies, CT aortic and coronary angiography, and opportunities for MRI cardiac and aortic imaging.

  • Opportunities for research

Required Qualifications:
The University is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their research, teaching, and/or service to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

  • An M.D. or M.D. /Ph.D. with active board certification in Radiology and fellowship training in Body Imaging

  • Possess academic credentials for a faculty appointment on the clinician educator track at the minimum level of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor

  • Possess a current, full and unrestricted license to practice in a state and be qualified for medical licensure in the State of Iowa
