Job Description

Last Update: 10/12/20

The Department of Medical Imaging (DMI) at the University of Arizona (UA) College of Medicine – Tucson seeks a dynamic and visionary clinician-leader to serve as the Division Chief of Breast Imaging. We are currently accepting applications for an Associate or Full Professor with fellowship training in Breast Imaging. The successful candidate will embody strong leadership and management skills and a commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and education.

Founded in 1958, the Department of Medical Imaging provides clinical service to the Banner University Medical Center – Tucson (the sole Level 1 Trauma Center in Southern Arizona), the Diamond Children’s Medical Center, University of Arizona Cancer Center, Banner University Medical Center – South Campus, the Advanced Breast Imaging Center, and North Campus Imaging Center. The Department of Medical Imaging is a world leader in MRI and transforms patient care through precision diagnostics and imaging-guided therapeutics. The Department provides the most advanced, comprehensive, and compassionate care to pediatric patients in Arizona and the Southwest United States, with medical imaging needs from head to toe.

The Banner/University of Arizona Medical Center, the onsite teaching and research hospital, comprises a 650-bed tertiary care hospital and substantial outpatient practice. The hospital has three MR scanners (two 1.5T and one 3T), which are equipped with advanced fast-scanning capabilities, four CTs, and advanced ultrasound. The newly opened outpatient facility has state-of-the-art PET/CT, 64-slice CT, two 3T MR scanners, and ultrasound.

The UA has a strong tradition of clinical care excellence, driven by innovation and discovery, with the DMI faculty having extensive collaborations across departments in the College of Medicine and other colleges. There is active conferencing across the spectrum of specialties. The clinical case load serves as an excellent resource for our training programs, which includes both Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology Residencies and multiple accredited fellowship training programs. Breast Imaging has a non-ACGME fellowship program approved for one candidate.

The DMI is seeking an individual who is able to work with diverse students, trainees, and colleagues, and who has experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives. UA is an active campus in the heart of a growing city located in the hub of Southern Arizona. When you join UA, you become a member of one of the world’s elite research institutions and one of the top medical schools in the nation.
