Pulmonary opportunity location:

Located in the central west foothills of the historic Appalachian Mountains. The community offers the appeal of small-town living, but is easily accessible to urban areas. We are 90 miles east of Lexington, Kentucky, 30 miles south of Morehead, Kentucky and 69 miles southwest of Ashland, Kentucky/Huntington, West Virginia.

Morgan County has five elementary schools, a middle school, a high school, two vocational-technical schools, and an extension campus facility of Morehead State University. Morehead State University located in neighboring Rowan County, provides courses for an associate, bachelor, and graduate degrees. Also nearby is Lees Junior College, which offers opportunities for associate degrees in selected areas, as well as preparatory classes for bachelor’s degrees at other institutions.

Four nearby state parks are favorite spots for hiking, camping, and having picnics. Beneath Carter Caves State Resort Park in Olive Hill, Kentucky, are more than 20 twisting caverns. The park also features Tygart’s Creek and a nine-hole golf course. Cave Run Lake, located just 10 minutes away in the heart of the Daniel Boone National Forest, is known by locals as "Kentucky’s best-kept secret." Hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, and camping are available. There are also four golf course located in Rowan and Morgan counties.

Pulmonary/Critical Care opportunity location:

Our community is a great place to live, raise a family, worship, educate children and to do business. We offer practically any provider of service that you need. As in most of Eastern Kentucky, the main industry is coal mining, but the city is also focusing now on attracting new industries. Our public school systems provide an excellent education. Hazard Community and Technical College has its main campus in the area. Bachelors and Master degree programs are offered through the University Center of the Mountains, located on the Community College campus.

Hazard and Perry County offer a variety of recreational facilities and activities, including three city parks with basketball courts, tennis courts, an amphitheater, a picnic shelter, playgrounds, a nine-hole golf course, and volleyball courts. The Hazard Pavilion offers an Olympic-size pool, tennis and racquetball courts, a weight room, and more. Nearby Buckhorn Lake State Park and Carr Creek Lake give visitors many exciting options, such as boating, swimming, and fishing. While various activities occur throughout the year, the entire community especially enjoys a four-day celebration of the coal industry, Black Gold Festival, which is held each year in September.

Approximately 100 miles from Lexington.
