POSITION: NP/PA

SCHEDULE: Part-Time (16 hours/week – Weekend Day Shift)

FACILITY: St. Lucie County Jail

LOCATION: Fort Pierce, FL

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Provides basic medical services under the supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Utilizes professional medical skills to meet a variety of health care needs, with ambulatory care as primary focus.
  • Provides a broad range of services to the facility including assessment, identification and treatment of medical concerns, health education to patients, and illness and injury prevention.
  • Performs paraprofessional medical services, of an advanced technical nature, to the inmate population as appropriate. Involves Medical Director in clinical decision making of any issues that are outside his/her knowledge base or scope.
  • Establishes individualized treatment plans and insures the continuity of care for patients requiring on-going health care services.
  • Counsels patients on preventative care, medical problems, and use of prescribed treatment.
  • Share the on-call responsibilities other site clinicians and responding Telephonically
Job Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The following requirements list the minimum to qualify. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

LICENSING: Current, valid Florida Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license

CERTIFICATION: Current CPR Certification

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited college/university program

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum two (2) years clinical experience required. Correctional experience a plus
