Iowa licensed psychiatrist needed for dual inpatient unit coverage 2 hrs north of Des Moines . Daily coverage needed in Geriatric and Chemical Dependency Units. Dec-ongoing coverage; full time, 1:5 weekday/weekend call. Travel provided.

Mondays-Fridays; 40 hour work week. 1:5 weekday and weekend call available.
  • Chemical Dependency Unit – located in Waterloo. Roughly 3 hours per day coverage needed here. Twenty three bed unit including 4 detox beds and 2 swing beds. Average census is 17 – 19. All new patients must be seen within the first 24 hours following admit for H&P. Outside of the initial H&P, it is provider preference as to how often pt is seen. Nursing staff alerts physician with concerns such as med management, behavior issues, etc. Unit does have 4 adolescent beds. Rounding averages 1 – 2 hours. Ideal would be for physician to round every weekday at roughly the same time. Ideal candidate would be suboxone certified
  • Overnight call 1x/wk
  • Would like for provider to work rest of day in the outpatient (clinic). Ideal schedule would be CD unit 8am - noonish, outpatient clinic 1p - 5p.

Required Special Certifications/Registrations:

  • Providers must provide evidence of and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. BLS will be waived for providers who provide evidence of current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). In the event certification expires, providers will be asked to provide a current BLS as the default request.
Federal DEA and State of Iowa Controlled Substance Prescribing Authority registration.
