A nonprofit healthcare organization located in the Bronx is actively seeking an ACT Psychiatrist for a part-time opportunity on their growing staff. In this role, the ACT Psychiatrist provides care to individuals with serious mental illness who are street homeless, living within the DHS shelter system, or who have recently transitioned to housing.

Responsibilities

The ACT Psychiatrist will:

Work collaboratively with settings in which the participant is living and use assertive engagement strategies to proactively engage individuals in services
Maintain clinical responsibility for monitoring participant treatment and team member delivery of clinical services
Provide clinical leadership
Work closely with the Program Director
Provide treatment to individuals within their community, including in the shelters, on the streets, and in residential programs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in community psychiatry, working with people with serious mental health conditions, co-occurring substance use disorders, and homelessness
  • Knowledgeable in MAT approaches, including screenings, assessments, and medication protocols
  • Currently licensed as a physician by the New York State Education Department and certified by, or be eligible to be certified by, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Commitment to person-centered treatment strategies, upholding participants’ rights, and self-determination in service provision
  • Eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs
