Job Description

Overview

OSF Saint Anthony’s Health Center has a long history (approximately 40 years) of providing mental health services to our local community. Psychological Services provides Psychological testing and evaluation, and individual, family and group therapy services. We have an excellent reputation and an established referral base, with consistent referrals from OSFMG primary care and specialty group, as well as external physician groups, pain clinics, neurologists and community agencies.

Outpatient hospital practice setting; day shift. The Psychologist/Neuropsychologist is an important part of our clinical team which includes LCSW/LCPC Psychotherapists.

Primary Duties:
  • Administers psychological tests accurately and writes clear psychological reports within appropriate time frame.
  • Testing cases include a diverse adult population with diagnoses that may include: ADHD, chronic pain, cognitive impairment - dementia, post stroke, concussion, IQ/LD, and clarity of DSM diagnoses.
  • Provides clinical assessment and outpatient psychotherapy.
  • Effectively develops treatment plan and coordinates with patient, family, physician and other referral sources as appropriate.
  • Provides clinical consultation with healthcare professionals and promotes community relations and education.
  • On occasion, coordinates field placement of a psychology graduate student for experiential learning administration of psychological tests. Clinically supervises and oversees their duties while on unit.
  • Assists manager in maintaining quality standards, clinical competencies, program development, smooth operations, coordination and positive relations with referring physicians and community agencies.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served. This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.

A doctoral degree, either Ph.D. or Psy.D., from an APA or CPA approved program in clinical psychology.

A minimum of two years work experience, one year pre doctoral and one year post doctoral, in a specialized neuropsychology setting.

A valid and current license to practice clinical psychology issued by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations, or a pending application of licensure if in the probationary period of employment.

Thorough knowledge of psychological principles, including but not limited to psychological assessment and testing, theories of personality, abnormal psychology, cognitive theory, behavior modification, individual and group therapy, and biological bases of behavior as normally acquired through completion of an accredited doctoral program and post doctoral training.

Practical experience in administering a variety of psychological tests, including but not limited to, the WAIS IV, WISC V, WJ-III, WMS IV, WCST, and any acceptable method of neuropsychological assessment (such as the Halstead Reitan Neuropsychological Test Battery, the Luria Nebraska Neuropsychological Test, or the “process” approach).

Thorough knowledge of operant and respondent theories of behavior, as well as principles of reinforcement. Ability to integrate these theoretical ideas into applied behavioral analysis and behavior modification programs.

Analytical skills sufficient for interpreting psychological test data, making inferences about patient behavior and personality, and formulating treatment plans that will aid in behavioral and/or cognitive improvement.

Effective communication skills necessary for working closely with patients and family members, and for exchanging information with physicians and other health care professionals.
