Clinic exclusively serving US Veterans is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for their Bowling Green, KY location. This opportunity is perfect for someone who wants a great work/life balance, dedicated patient base of only veterans, no call, no rounds, no after-hours. You will be serving a grateful patient population with high compliance.

  • This is a four-pact team clinic. When fully staffed the clinic will have two MDs and two NPs.
  • Evaluates veterans for mental health disorders and appropriately diagnoses and treats mental health conditions.
  • Orders and performs diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures as related to mental health diagnoses and treatment and interprets test results for deviations from normal and provides follow up care.
  • Prescribes medication and recommends dietary and activity programs.
  • Performs appropriate interval follow up visits for necessary treatment of mental health diagnosis.
  • Refers patient to the VA medical specialist when indicated.
  • Counsel patients on the use of prescription medications and educates patients in relation to treatment plan.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, assists in provision of continuity of care
  • Evaluates patients records from medical providers outside the VA and works with the veterans utilizing rules set forth by the VA for co-managed care.
  • Conducts individual counseling/therapy.
  • Contributes to group therapy (i.e., PTSD groups; weight management; smoking cessation; grieving; and personal interactions).
  • Contributes to pain management plan as needed.
  • Involves veterans in planning and assuming responsibility for activities.
  • Refers veterans, when indicated, to community resources and other organizations.
  • Addresses issues such as advance directives and organ donation in accordance with acceptable standards
