The Psychiatrist Medical Director clinically monitors all mental health and primary care services provided to LGBTQ+ adults in this ambulatory health center. The Psychiatrist Medical Director also provides direct supervision and consultation and/or diagnosis to the clinical staff (psychiatrists, nurses, psychiatric nurse practitioners, FNP, physicians).


  • Directs all activities involved in the provision of services at a clinic including scheduling, staffing, patient flow, on-going clinical operations, maintains and security of physical facility, and monitoring and review of daily fiscal and accounting procedures related to sliding fee and co-payments
  • Assumes initiative in center activities and seeks new sources of patient referrals and programs for the growth of the health center
  • Conduct initial psychiatric patient assessments to determine medication and treatment needs
  • Prescribe medications and treatments with attention to existing medical diagnoses and concomitant therapies
  • Run monthly meetings, to include input on quality improvement initiatives
  • Develops annual program goals and objectives for the health center
  • Tact and flexibility in order to motivate and support staff


Requirements:

  • NYS-licensed and Board-Certified Psychiatrist
  • Administrative/managerial experience required
  • Must have up to date knowledge of psychotropic medications; and evidenced-based/best practices treatment modalities for adults with mental health issues.
