Maxim is currently in search of a dedicated FT Psychiatrist to provide clinical care to residents of the facility in the Lufkin, TX, area! The Psychiatrist will conduct evaluations, diagnose, and create care plans for psychiatric conditions. Additional information and key job details pertaining to this assignment are listed below. Location: Lufkin, TX (outpatient setting)
Locums Contract Duration: 6 month initial contract
Start Date: April 15, 2021
Schedule: Full-time, flexibility in work hours will be considered

Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for giving general clinical supervision and sign a written agreement to delegate prescriptive authority with the current full-time Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Evaluate, diagnose and plan care for people with psychiatric conditions.
  • Provide quality psychiatric services and care to individuals residing at the facility. This includes providing guidance to and participating with the facility interdisciplinary teams (IDTs).
  • Conduct psychiatric clinics as scheduled and psychiatric reviews as requested by the IDTs. It is expected that each individual will be treated with the most effective medication and the most effective dosage.
  • Interact with and make recommendations to family members when requested.
  • The facility’s electronic health record is available for the recording of deliberations and recommendations, reviewing lab work, modifying treatment plans.
  • As a member of the IDT, the Psychiatrist attends Individual Support Planning meetings to help develop a holistic individual service plan for persons on their caseload. Additionally, 90-day medication reviews and other meetings may be attended as requested by the IDT or administrators.
  • Manage acute psychiatric care including authorizing emergency restraints, writing orders for the emergency use of medication, and coordinating psychiatric hospitalizations if the person does not respond to behavioral interventions provided by the staff.
  • Available to the psychiatrist for consultation and team efforts are behavioral health specialists and/or psychologists, as well as other interested persons.
  • Psychiatrists participate in various committees designed to ensure residents are receiving quality care, such Medical Services Division, Pharmacy, Therapeutics, and Admission Reviews.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
  • Texas Medical License – Unrestricted
  • Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry
  • DEA Certificate – Unrestricted
