Academic Adult Psychiatrist in Virginia
StartDate: ASAP Pay Rate: $210000.00 - 250000.00

Merritt Hawkins, the nation’s premier academic search firm, has partnered with a well-established academic institution in Virginia in the recruitment of faculty for its Psychiatry Department. We are seeking one adult and one geriatric psychiatrist who are board-certified or eligible in Psychiatry and have a desire to become clinical educators. Applicants at all faculty ranks will be considered. The department provides a broad range of inpatient and ambulatory clinical services as well as resident and medical student education and research.

Position Features:
  • Option to spend up to 40% of your time on scholarly activities such as teaching or research
  • Psychiatrists who have completed a geriatric psychiatry fellowship or have equivalent experience will be able to practice at the 12-bed inpatient geropsychiatric unit on campus
  • Inpatient consultations are provided at the on-campus, level 1 trauma, acute care center
  • In the ambulatory clinic, division members will gain experience in treating patients with psychodynamically - oriented psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy and supportive psychotherapy
  • Join a supportive, tightly-knit faculty while preserving your autonomy to expand your individual strengths and skills as a psychiatrist
  • Research is optional but if there is interest, opportunity to participate in clinical research is available
