Hiring a Psychiatrist for a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) on a part-time basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations and assessments for patients to ascertain their diagnoses and establish treatment plans
  • Ensure patients have a thorough understanding of medication options including education/review of side effects and treatment options so patients may give informed consent
  • Provide individual psychotherapy
  • Provide crisis intervention and/or counseling to diffuse conflicts among patients
  • Collaborate with primary care providers to focus on psychiatric and substance abuse issues
  • Coordinate patients? psychiatric care with medical clinic and shelter staff, as well as outside providers
  • Manage emergency responses, including a team to minimize patient's danger to self and others, direct discussion with EMS/FDNY regarding patient's condition, referral to psychiatric or medical emergency departments and follow-up while patient is in the emergency department or upon release
  • Participate in case-conference and case management activities
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, in conjunction with the Quality Improvement Team, the Director of Behavioral Health, and the Chief Medical Officer
  • Meet with team members on a monthly basis to discuss/implement recommendations and collaborate toward delivering quality psychiatric services.
  • Provide supervision to clinicians when requested, based upon the needs of individual service providers.
  • Facilitate training sessions, employing the expertise of outside sources for clinical staff
  • Collaborate with the Registration and Scheduling Departments to ensure appropriate patient scheduling and flow
  • Observe, implement, and promote the federal regulations as defined by HIPAA and the organization?s Policies and Procedures

Requirements:

  • Board eligible or certified by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Current New York State license
  • DEA registration required
