Medical Director Psychiatry Lynchburg, Virginia #3113
Our client is seeking a Medical Director for their psychiatric services in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Medical Director provides the oversight of psychiatric services, including direct supervision of Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner’s.
The director also ensures quality care in accordance with standards and benchmarks set by licensing boards and regulations. They develop policies and procedures to ensure quality care and compliance.
Requirements for this position include: Doctor of Medicine. Completion of an accredited psychiatric residency program and Board Certified or minimally, Board Eligible in general psychiatry required. The Director must have five (5) years’ experience as a Psychiatrist and previous experience supervising providers and staff.
Previous experience supervising providers and other staff is essential, with demonstrated record of success. Strongly prefer two years of experience in a management related position within a behavioral health environment and at least one year in a public mental health system.
You must have medical staff leadership experience, significant prior experience in healthcare and/or behavioral health management roles, and involvement with formal quality and/or utilization management programs are required.
Current principles and practices of psychiatric care are needed along with expert knowledge of principles, practices, and medications involved in diagnosing and treating mental illness.
Knowledge of Clinical Information Systems and Electronic Health Records needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
You must understand and be committed to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
Also preferred are:
Excellent problem-solving skills, including creativity, resourcefulness, timeliness, and technical knowledge related to analyzing and resolving medical/administrative problems.
Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technology and willingness to develop and adapt to the evolving technological requirements of modern medical health practices.
Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required.
Previous experience with a Medicaid population within a managed care environment strongly preferred, with knowledge in the areas of population health and value based contracting.
Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client at other locations. Regular attendance at trainings
and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
Ability to provide clear and concise reports.
Ability to guide programs and personnel to deliver excellent care to consumers.
Experience in a managed care environment.

This position is specific for a Board Prepared or Board Certified Psychiatrist. Requirements then are that the successful candidate would have a degree as an M.D. or D.O. with proven residency training in Psychiatry.
