This position is located in Specialty Service which is aligned under the Chief of Staff. As a member of the Specialty Service the Podiatrist will provide direct clinical services to accomplish the missions of the Battle Creek VA Medical Center, VISN 10, and VHA. This announcement is for a part-time (.5) employee.

Responsibilities

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assesses, diagnoses, treats, and evaluates the feet of patients with diabetes and other foot conditions.
  • Identifies individuals at high risk for lower extremity amputations.
  • Enters patient information into the electronic medical health record.
  • Educates others in the assessment, treatment, management, and evaluation of foot disorders.
  • Develops and maintains a management system for the foot care program.
  • Performs outpatient podiatry consults for new and established patients.
  • May perform podiatric surgical procedures.


Work Schedule: Applicant is hired as a part-time (.5) employee and will work 20hrs/week. No evening, no weekends. Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

Salary: $104,843 to $225,000 per year

Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
