Podiatrist


Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA (NMCP) and its associated Branch Health/Medical Clinics (BHC) and Tricare Prime Clinics (TPC). Location specific information will be provided under 1.5.8 (Place of Performance).

Work Schedule: Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0700 and 1800 hours. Shifts will normally be scheduled for an eight and half (8.5) to twelve and half (12.5) hour period, to include an uncompensated thirty (30) minute to sixty (60) minute lunch break, respectively. The HCW shall be on duty for at least forty (40) hours each week, but not to exceed fifty (50) each week. In no instance will each HCW exceed 100 hours per two (2) week period.

Qualifications:

5.2.1.1.2. Successful completion a Podiatric residency (PSR24 only) approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA).

5.2.1.1.3. A minimum of two (2) years of experience (including surgical experience) within the preceding two (2) years as a Podiatrist.

5.2.1.1.4. Provide two (2) letters of recommendation written within the last two (2) years attesting to the HCW’s clinical skills. At least one (1) letter must be from a physician or supervisor who has personally observed and evaluated the HCW and who can attest to the HCW’s clinical competence in the care of patients. The other letter may be from a clinic or hospital administrator, physician or nurse who has personal knowledge of the HCW’s patient care skills in a similar clinical environment. Reference letters shall attest to the HCW’s communication skills and ability to relate to patients as well as professional and other interpersonal skills among staff members and must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference. Letters of recommendation must have been written within the preceding two (2) years

Specific Duties:

5.5.3.2.1. Podiatrist - The HCW shall provide services within the scope of the clinical privileges granted by the commanding officer, the applicable duties provided in the basic contract, and the following:

5.5.3.2.2. Provide appointment services within 30 minutes of the appointed time. When the daily schedule is not full, the HCWs will provide services (during clinic times) for walk-in patients, dictation and completing medical boards, and other health care administrative duties.

5.5.3.2.3. Perform foot and mid foot reconstructive surgery.

5.5.3.2.4. Systematically monitor effectiveness of practice through client database and outcomes evaluation. Synthesize and use the results of these evaluations to make or recommend changes including policy, procedure or protocol documentation.

5.5.3.2.5. Perform necessary administrative duties that include maintaining statistical records of clinical workload, participating in education programs, and participating in clinical staff quality assurance functions and Process Action Teams, as prescribed by the Commander.
