USGP has an opportunity for a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician (Physiatrist) at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Current Board Certification in Pain Medicine from the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation accredited by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
    • Fellowship training in Pain Management.
    • Possess one (1) year of clinical work experience within the preceding five (5) years as a Pain Management Physiatrist providing pain management services to patients with complex pain conditions.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
    • A physical examination and current immunizations will be required.

SCHEDULE

    • Services shall be provided Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
    • No call back, nor on-call.

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities.
    • Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in a reduced risk manner.
    • Maintain an awareness of responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.
    • Participate in continuing education to meet own professional growth.
    • Perform as a principal treating physician to provide clinical direction to a multidisciplinary team, coordinating care with other health care providers and providing consultative services pursuant to optimal health care delivery to patients suffering from pain.
    • Provide comprehensive medical and advanced interventional pain treatments to patients with complex pain conditions including consultation, management, monitoring, evaluation, and treatment.
    • Participate in tele-medicine and tele-consults. This will be conducted from with-in the MTF or if telework is approved, from an approved telework location.
    • Participate in Graduate Medical Education, to include fellow, resident, intern, and medical student education.
    • Participate in Scholarly activity.
