Our typical census is around 0 – 2 babies a day

Newborn Hospitalist Job Purpose:

Serves hospital patients in the newborn nursery by delivering routine newborn care to our patients who are not critically ill.

Facilitate consultations with the Neonatologist for newborns with acute issues who cannot be managed in the nursery.

Perform circumcisions on our patients when requested by the family.

Provide consultation services as needed and be the team leader in the care of the patient.

Completes all documentation at the time of service and submits appropriate charges within 48 hours of the patient’s discharge.

Provides consultations by examining patients; reviewing medical records, reports, and logs; researching information; developing conclusions and care recommendations.

Provides quality assurance services by prescreening cases requiring review by the quality assurance committee.

Maintains patient confidence by keeping patient care information confidential.

Updates medical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Serves and protects the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and JCAHO standards.

Enhances community and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
