Bucksport is a pretty town of 5000 people on the Penobscot River, just above its entry into Penobscot Bay, where Maines famed Down East region begins. This community is growing in popularity as families and retirees discover this scenic and affordable stretch of coast just half an hour south of Bangor, Maines third largest city. Bucksport connects to Verona Island, just east of Fort Knox State Park and the impressive Penobscot Narrows Bridge. You will find a range of handy eateries in Bucksport, and shopping that includes antique shops, art galleries, and everything else necessary to support a bustling family-oriented community.
Boating, of course, is very popular here with pleasure craft harbored alongside working fishing and lobster vessels. Many more recreational choices are available nearby, including golf, hiking, fishing and kayaking, plus snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
Bangor is home to over 100,000 people, and offers an international airport, shopping malls and theatres, dozens of restaurants, a wonderful childrens museum, a symphony orchestra, a casino/hotel, summer concerts and annual music festivals on the riverfront, and much more.
Bucksport is an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, recently voted Americas Favorite Place, where 50,000 scenic acres of beautiful mountains, trails and coastline attract more than 3 million visitors annually!
