The Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Institute for Academic Medicine is seeking a dedicated clinician-educator to serve as the Program Director for our Pediatric Residency Program. CAMC is the largest hospital in southern West Virginia and serves a large area of the state and region.

Position Highlights

  • Lead our Pediatric Residency Program which consists of 21 residents (7/year)
  • Free-standing children’s hospital with state-of-the-art technology, pediatric-focused ancillary services, and a full range of pediatric subspecialty support located on site
  • Charleston Area Medical Center is a 958-bed academic medical center and is one of the state's top health care providers, with four hospitals and over 700 physicians on staff, as well as a workforce of over 8,000 employees
  • Collaborations with other educators within CAMC’s Institute for Academic Medicine, where you will have the support you need to innovate and develop your career as an educator and leader within the organization and beyond

Position Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of active faculty teaching experience in an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency
  • Passion for teaching and leadership, with a commitment to teaching students and residents, and promoting the ideal clinical learning environment
  • A progressive record of exceptional patient care in an academic, teaching hospital and/or community setting, with a strong commitment to providing outstanding clinical care for a diverse population
  • An understanding of residency program accreditation requirements, good communication and writing skills, strong interpersonal skills
  • MD/DO from an accredited university medical school
  • Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital privileges at Charleston Area Medical Center
  • Board Certification (ABP or AOBP) in Pediatrics
  • Eligibility for a West Virginia medical license

Under the auspices of the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine, CAMC is a growing academic medical center sponsoring 14 accredited medical residencies and fellowship programs; 3 pharmacy residency programs; a doctoral clinical psychology internship and a doctoral level School of Nurse Anesthesia. Our strategic plan includes expansion of GME programs in a number of disciplines over the next five years as well as a growing portfolio of research programs and initiatives. Home to two regional medical school campuses, West Virginia University Charleston Division and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, CAMC hosts 160 full-time 3rd and 4th year medical students on site and serves as clinical training site for over 1500 health sciences students. A new Center for Learning and Research is under construction that will house a 14,000 square-foot simulation center and other facilities dedicated to our education and research programs. With over 350 active research protocols and clinical trials, the CAMC research program is accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRP), which recognizes institutional “commitment and scientifically and ethically sound research and to continuous improvement.”
