The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine seeks a sixth board certified full-time Pulmonologist to join their group as the “Hunt for a Cure” pediatric pulmonary research scientist.
Grand Rapids, Michigan is a cosmopolitan area and the second largest city in the state located just 35 minutes from the shores of Lake Michigan and just 2 1/2 hours from Chicago! The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine seeks a sixth board certified full-time Pulmonologist to join their group as the “Hunt for a Cure” pediatric pulmonary research scientist.
- 50-75% time devoted to research and 25-50% clinical time
- Provide collaboration, teamwork and leadership for the Michigan State University (MSU) – Spectrum Health Cystic Fibrosis Translational Research Program (CFTRP). The CFTRP already exists with a basic science team of PhD researchers and staff that have been successful in securing significant extramural grant funding. The expectation of the physician scientist is that the he or she will come with a strong foundation of research that will continue to grow and generate extramural funding to foster program growth and continued research.
- The MSU-Grand Rapids Research Center is a brand new, state of the art basic science laboratory building located adjacent to the clinical care campus in downtown Grand Rapids. With the success of this first building, a second research facility has broken ground and slated for completion in 2022.
- A Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship program has been approved for Fall 2020.
- cares for 10,000 inpatients, sees 110,000 ambulatory visits and over 50,000 visits to Pediatric Emergency Department annually.
- serves a 37 county region with 200 pediatric specialists in 50 pediatric specialty areas.
