Overview

  • The Department of Pediatrics of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) seeks Infectious Disease candidates for a position as
  • Assistant/ Associate/Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, depending upon experience. The candidate must hold an MD/DO degree or equivalent, be BC/BE in Pediatrics along with BC/BE in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and will hold or are eligible for an Illinois physician license. This is a faculty position, as such requires providing clinical care, teaching medical students and residents, research and scholarly activities. We offer the medical sophistication of a major referral center and cultural diversity in a family oriented community without big city hassles or cost of living.
  • The primary teaching hospital of the UICOMP is the OSF Healthcare Children's Hospital of Illinois (CHO I), a tertiary care facility serving a 3 7 county region with a population base of over two million. CHOI provides comprehensive services to children, including Level IV NICU and a state-designated Pediatric Critical Care Center. CHOI is a major medical facility with 124 beds and a 32-bed critical care unit and the only Level 1 trauma center in Illinois outside of Chicago.
  • Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services (inpatient mainly and outpatient).
  • Participate in teaching medical students, residents and other health professionals.
  • Conduct clinical and/or basic research in the field of Pediatric Infectious Disease.
  • Participate in infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship committees.
  • Provide phone consultations for other hospitals and pediatric offices in Illinois.
  • Provide guidance for community outbreaks (measles and tuberculosis).

Qualifications

  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Doctorate Licenses/Certifications: Physician Licensed to practice medicine in current state.
  • Board certified or board eligible in the appropriate specialty (ies).
  • Obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges.
  • Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
  • Physician shall meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable.
