Job Description:
Join a well established group of Pediatric Hospitalists that provides excellent care for both the general pediatric and medically complex hospitalized children of Northern Virginia. At the Children's Hospital, our commitment is to provide world-class care in a child friendly environment, close to home. We have expanded our coverage to include the Medical Center with 24/7 Pediatric Hospitalist coverage. Hospitalist coverage at the Medical Center will be provided with around-the-clock in-house coverage for the general pediatric ward, newborn nursery, ED consults and education of Family Practice residents. We do not cover deliveries or the NICU, as there is a separate Neonatology service. This is an exciting opportunity to help grow the pediatric hospitalist program and establish new policies and procedures in this growing community. Medical Center, a 445-bed, non-profit hospital is a regional referral center offering a broad spectrum of services that includes diagnostic, medical, surgical and rehabilitative care. A Level II Trauma Center, Medical Center is a resource for 400,000 residents in a region known as the Top of Virginia, plus neighboring West Virginia and Maryland. Children's Services at the Medical Center is dedicated to providing compassion and expert care in labor & delivery, mother/baby care, neonatal intensive care, pediatrics and women's health. The Pediatrics unit provides inpatient services for children from birth to 18 years of age. There is a comprehensive approach to a child's health, from special needs to preventive care. The 17-bed unit is arranged and decorated with children in mind. Located within the Mother/Baby unit is the Newborn Nursery. Here, full-term babies receive the medical attention they need during their first few days, including their first physical, vaccinations and circumcisions for boys if parents choose. City is located about 75 miles outside of Washington DC in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.
