The division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) is undergoing a major expansion in clinical and research programs, coinciding with the opening of our 15-story 650,000 sq ft Outpatient Pavilion. We are seeking an exceptional pediatric hematologist/oncologist to direct the Cancer Immunotherapy in the Stem Cell Transplantation Program. Responsibilities include clinical care, teaching, and leadership in clinical and translational research. A state-of-the art ASK Foundation Pediatric Hematology & Oncology Clinic with adjoining clinical laboratory and pharmacy opens in March 2016. Integrated into the adult stem cell transplantation section, we are a FAHCT-accredited transplantation center. More than 200 transplants are performed yearly. The division has a dedicated team of nurses, psychologist, chaplain, social worker, and child life staff.

The successful applicant will be a clinical investigator with academic accomplishments in the areas of cellular immunotherapy, cytokine storm, or checkpoint inhibitor therapy. Applicants should have strong clinical skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment. Rank, salary, and research support will be commensurate with experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successful applicant will be a clinical investigator with academic accomplishments in the areas of cellular immunotherapy, cytokine storm, or checkpoint inhibitor therapy. Applicants should have strong clinical skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment. Rank, salary, and research support will be commensurate with experience
  • Faculty member will serve on departmental, College, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MD degree with current Board Certification in pediatrics
  • Eligible for appointment at open rank
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

CHoR is a 167-bed facility that provides comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care, serving patients from the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast regions. The division and CHoR are part of the NCI-designated Massey Cancer Center. The division offers a pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship with support for a 4th year. The division is the only one providing pediatric stem cell transplantation in Virginia. Richmond is close to Virginia’s famous wineries, hiking trails in the Shenandoah Mountains, the Atlantic Ocean beaches, and Washington, DC.
