Job Description

The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, with the Department of Pediatrics, is currently recruiting a Chief of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes. The Division Chief will be responsible for further development of a comprehensive Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes program and advancing the field through patient care, practice innovation, research, and education. This position requires a dynamic, passionate, and capable physician-leader with deep research experience and a record of success spanning collaborative clinical leadership, administrative management, program development, individual scholarship, educational excellence, successful faculty recruitment, and community engagement. He/she will have administrative, academic, and clinical practice management experience within a complex, pediatric tertiary care medical center. We seek individuals with strong emotional and social intelligence and a demonstrated ability to connect with others in a meaningful way at all levels of the organization.

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes has a long history of excellent clinical service and scholarly output. Including the Chief, the division is supported by a multi-disciplinary team of 8 physicians; there are 10 additional practitioners, including certified diabetes educators, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, a social worker, and 2 nutritionists. There are six fellows affiliated with the Division. Clinical activities include primary inpatient consultation (1,050 annually) and service via three outpatient sites (9,500 annually). In addition to careful and prompt clinical evaluation, the Division provides clinical and research expertise and uses state-of–the-art resources to diagnose and treat infants and children with endocrine disorders and Type 1 and Type 2 pediatric diabetes mellitus. CHAM's partnership with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine advances clinical and translational research, radically accelerating the Division’s ability to offer new services and programs that benefit patients.

In collaboration with the leadership of Montefiore Health System and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, this candidate will provide visionary and innovative leadership to guide the Division into its next phase of growth and development, including expanding services to the growing hospital system and practice network.

With the Chair of Pediatrics, this candidate will define and lead the Division’s research strategy. Support principal investigators and other faculty within the Division in efforts to secure NIH and other grant funding to support research priorities and ensure a deliberate investment into research activities and priorities.

Provide the vision and leadership to achieve superior clinical programs within Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes and related disciplines. Work with the leadership of the department and Montefiore Health System to build areas of acknowledged clinical excellence and further integrate related operations across the System.
