PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE PHYSICIAN - F65490

Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center (VCUMC) Emergency Department located in Richmond, VA is seeking a full-time Pediatric Emergency Medicine Division Physician. The Pediatric ED has 12 private Acute Care beds and 4 Fast Track/Rapid Treatment beds, and serves approximately 25,000 children annually. VCUMC is the region’s only Level I American College of Surgeons Verified Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, and the region’s only Level I Certified Pediatric Burn Center. The Division has a seasoned global health program, as well as the region’s only Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship.

Pediatric Emergency Medicine is a Division within the Department of Emergency Medicine and is comprised of 10 faculty members. All Pediatric Emergency Medicine faculty have an academic faculty appointment in the Department of Emergency Medicine with a secondary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Division is integrated within the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, currently a hospital within a hospital, with construction underway on a new Children’s inpatient tower, which will be Central Virginia’s first stand-alone children’s hospital. Once complete, it will include a state of the art 22 bed Pediatric ED.

We have traditionally placed the highest priority on clinical care and education, and wish to continue this emphasis while also developing a new emphasis on clinical research. Our department has special interest, expertise, and extramural funding in a variety of research areas including cardiac and trauma resuscitation, ultrasound, prehospital/emergency department cardiac and trauma care, toxicology, and acute neurological emergencies. The ideal candidate should have excellent clinical and teaching skills, with a strong interest in research.
