The department is a currently staffed by one developmental pediatrician and a PhD-level pediatric psychologist. Applicants must be either Board Certified/Board Eligible in Developmental Pediatrics or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities. A faculty appointment is available through Texas A&M University College of Medicine for qualified candidates. The Pediatric Development Specialist will oversee and teach pediatric residents. Initial office visits allow time for in-depth developmental evaluation of ADHD, autism, learning disorders, cognitive disabilities, and other related behavioral disorders. Follow up visits usually comprise of pharmacotherapy and ongoing treatment overview of more complex patients.

Hospital is a 189-bed pediatric tertiary care center with pediatric specialists representing 32 medical and 13 surgical specialties offering care throughout South Texas, including Corpus Christi, the Rio Grande Valley, Victoria, and Laredo. Through the vision and generosity of its founder, our Children’s Hospital opened in 1953, becoming the first, and remains the only, free-standing children’s hospital in South Texas with the first emergency room created specifically for pediatrics. The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric services including NICU, PICU, and more than 40 pediatric sub-specialists.
