Overview

  • The department of pediatrics, University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and Children’s Hospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center seeks a Pediatric Critical Care physician with additional cardiac Training, extensive clinical experience with post-operative cardiac care, or dual training in cardiology and critical care for a position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Pediatrics or of Clinical Pediatrics to enhance a growing division.
  • The position (tenure or non-tenure) requires the completion of 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and the completion of 3 years of accredited Critical Care Fellowship training at the time of employment.
  • The ideal candidate will be BC/BE in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care and will hold or have applied for an Illinois physician’s license.
  • The position clinical duties include includes direct patient care to critically ill children, providing clinical consultation services for critically ill patients hospitalized in the unit including children with complex congenital heart disease, and provide consultation for physicians and patients in the region with problems requiring critical care.
  • Duties also include teaching medical students and residents. A fellowship program has also been accredited, and opportunities to pursue research and professional development exist.
  • The candidates will join 9 other intensivists that provide services to a mixed 16 beds PICU, and 16 beds intermediate unit with full complement of medical, and surgical subspecialty services.
  • The hospital is a designated level-1 trauma center, a St. Jude’s affiliate, and is the tertiary care facility for the central Illinois region.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Doctorate Licenses/Certifications: Physician Licensed to practice medicine in current state.
  • Board certified or board eligible in the appropriate specialty (ies).
  • Obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges.
  • Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
  • Physician shall meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable.
