John Mickell Endowed Chair Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
The Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at VCU is currently seeking an established and funded investigator to be the Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and to lead a division of eight faculty. We seek a motivated clinician-teacher interested in developing junior faculty and steering the continued growth of a dynamic pediatric intensive care unit in an academic setting. The candidate will be offered a full-time faculty appointment at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the strategic planning and day-to-day outcomes of the division
Inpatient management of children admitted to the 20-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Provide a mix of: direct clinical care; clinical administrative and QA/QI activities
Close cooperation with other services including the pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center, ECMO center, surgical services, and nursing staff
Will work weekends and take call as necessary
Didactic and bedside teaching for students, residents and fellows
Mentorship and career development for members of the division
Participate in clinical, transitional, and outcomes research
Qualifications:
Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Intensive Care
Experience with clinical care of patients ages birth to 21 years
Experience with education of housestaff, medical students
Well-developed scholarly/research portfolio
