Northwest Texas Healthcare System is assisting Texas Tech University recruit a Pediatric Intensivist in Amarillo, TX.
The position will be with a large university-based multi-specialty group. The group is comprised of faculty and staff from the Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine and enjoys a strong reputation throughout the region. The Pediatric sub-group currently has 26 physicians on staff (including 9 Pediatricians, 12 pediatric sub-specialists, 4 Neonatologists and 1 Pediatric Intensivist). Care will be provided at the Level III NICU and 12-bed PICU at the Children’s Hospital at Northwest Texas healthcare System. The position will include typical critical care duties, including vent management, central lines and sedation. Call will be shared equally on a 1:2 rotation, with coverage at one hospital.
Ideal candidate will be Board certified in Pediatric Critical Care, and have at least five years of previous experience. Compensation will be competitive and will include a base salary, full benefits package and sign-on bonus.

Northwest Texas Healthcare System is a 495-bed acute care hospital that serves approximately 650,000 residents of the Texas Panhandle and surrounding region. The system provides acute care services, including specialty cardiac and pediatric care, women’s services, emergency, surgical and behavioral health care. Northwest is staffed by nearly 500 physicians representing over 50 specialties, who provide high quality care and combine traditional values with leading edge technology.
Amarillo has four distinct seasons and a population of nearly 200,000 people. The public schools are outstanding and there are college preparatory and parochial private schools available. Texas Tech University Health Science Center has a thriving campus in Amarillo and trains 70 medical students and over 75 residents annually, largely at the Northwest campus. The city boasts many cultural activities, including the Amarillo Symphony and Opera, the Lone Star Ballet and a variety of theater groups. Recreational activities are plentiful. Amarillo offers a spectacular botanical garden, numerous art galleries and museums, and outdoor activities, including golf, hiking and biking. The city is located minutes from Palo Duro Canyon State Park, the second largest canyon in the country, and is on Historic Route 66. Amarillo is just four hours from Oklahoma City and Albuquerque and an hour flight to Dallas or Denver.
