Last Update: 9/12/18

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine (UFCOM) – Jacksonville is recruiting a full-time faculty member with specialty training in pediatric cardiac electrophysiology as Medical Director of Pediatric Electrophysiology within the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. This position will report to the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville.

This is a unique opportunity to direct the growth of a well-established program with strong support from the division, department and the combined resources of UFCOM-Jacksonville, and Wolfson Children’s Hospital (parent company Baptist Health). Jacksonville is a vibrant young and growing community where the catchment population for Wolfson Children's Hospital exceeds 1.5 million people.

The successful Medical Director of Pediatric Electrophysiology will have completed a 4th year of subspecialty training in pediatric electrophysiology, and be an expert in performing and interpreting electrophysiology studies and procedures such as radiofrequency and cryoablations, pacemaker implantation, and placement of implantable defibrillators.

As Medical Director of Pediatric Electrophysiology, the selected candidate will be expected to lead the electrophysiology section and will assume an existing patient base, working alongside seven (7) general cardiologists, two (2) interventional cardiologists, and one (1) electrophysiologist. He/she should be skilled in performing EP procedures in children and in adults who are followed in the adult congenital heart disease program and will participate in outpatient EP clinics on the main campus and satellite locations. The candidate should possess exemplary clinical, organizational and interpersonal skills; engage enthusiastically with other members of the cardiology team; enjoy teaching of residents and fellows; and have demonstrated academic scholarship.

The center currently performs about 240 total surgical procedures per year, 120 cardiac catheterizations and 120 EP procedures annually. The premier Wolfson Children’s Hospital, adjacent to the outpatient cardiology clinic, is the site of a 12-bed CVICU and also houses state-of-the-art catheterization laboratories (2) and CV operating rooms.

Kaye/Bassman International Academic Medicine Practice has been retained by the University of Florida COM-Jacksonville to assist with this leadership search.
