Children’s Hospital of Michigan and University Pediatricians are actively seeking an Allergist/Immunologist for a full-time, employed opportunity in Detroit, MI. The Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Division at Children’s Hospital of Michigan at the Detroit Medical Center has a long history of excellence in care for asthmatic, allergic, and immune deficient children.

Highlights about our Opportunity:

  • Full-time, employed opportunity – Available starting July 2020
  • 80% clinical time, 20% teaching, research, and administrative time (schedule can be modified)
  • 5-6 clinics per week, each being a 4-hour block
  • 7-10 days of allergy/immunology/asthma inpatient consult service per month
  • Average weekend inpatient consult coverage is 1 every 3-4 weeks
  • Beeper call coverage and inpatient weekend consult is shared among 4 existing providers; no in-house call

Academic Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Oversight of Allergy & Immunology fellows and residents
  • Participation in precepting of 3rd and 4th year medical students
  • Participation in lecture series for Allery & Immunology fellows
  • Participation in fellow evaluation sessions
  • Participation in QI and research initiatives

About the Division:

The Division of Allergy and Immunology currently has 5 faculty members and 2 fellows. The Allergy/Asthma main clinic and primary immunodeficiency clinic is located at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s Pediatric Specialty Center. Additionally, there are three other off-site clinics around the Detroit Metropolitan area that provide allergy and asthma outpatient services.

All sites are equipped for subcutaneous immunotherapy, food challenge, and monoclonal antibody therapy with experienced RNs. An infusion center is available for IVIG, located at the Pediatric Specialty Center. The Children’s Hospital of Michigan is also a major referral center for primary immunodeficiency and newborn screenings for severe combined immunodeficiency disorders.

Opportunities for academic collaboration within division, department, and multi-center are available and encouraged. We have affiliations with Central Michigan University, Michigan State University, and Wayne State University School of Medicine for inter-institutional collaboration in teaching and research.

Candidate Requirements:

  • MD or DO
  • Board certification with the American Board of Pediatrics or Internal Medicine
  • BE/BC with the American Board of Allergy and Immunology
  • Must be eligible to obtain licensure in the state of Michigan
