Prestigious Ohio Medical School Department of Pathology Seeking Faculty Renal Pathologist with Leadership Opportunities

Merritt Hawkins has partnered with the Department of Pathology at an established Ohio Medical School to conduct a national search for an academic Renal Pathologist to join the expanding department. The successful candidate will join another renal pathologist in providing support to a growing and vibrant renal transplant program on target to perform over 150 renal transplantation procedures this year. Renal biopsies number between 250–300 per year. The academic environment supporting renal transplantation at the University is very rich, with several multidisciplinary conferences, abundant collaborative research opportunities, and strong established research programs. In addition to supporting renal pathology, participation in surgical pathology will be expected, with opportunities in numerous surgical specialties depending on the applicants’ interests.

The Department includes approximately 30 clinical and research faculty, with about 15 faculty in anatomic pathology. Affiliate faculty at the neighboring Children's Hospital and VA Medical Center number about 20. Faculty are supported by an extensive system of anatomic pathology and clinical laboratories, and faculty research is supported by a core laboratory and a departmental grant program. The Department hosts a thriving Pathology residency program and a graduate program in Pathobiology and Molecular Medicine co-sponsored by the Department of Internal Medicine.

Incoming faculty will enjoy the opportunity to teach residents and the potential to start a fellowship in renal pathology or other surgical areas.
