Tower health is seeking a pathologist to join our department at Reading Hospital in West Reading Pennsylvania. Candidates should possess an MD/D.O. degree, be board certified in both anatomic and clinical pathology and have 3 years' experience in a hospital setting. Preference will be given to candidates who have fellowship training and certification in Transfusion Medicine. The service supports a Level 1 Trauma center, a Liver and Kidney Transplant Center, a Cancer Infusion Center, NMICU, Adult and Pediatric EDs, and a Blood Management Program. Annual transfusions are over 7900 units RBCs. Expertise and additional training in neuropathology, transplant pathology, or microbiology are also desirable.


Our department consists of 8 pathologists who have certifications and expertise and multiple disciplines. The department primarily supports Reading Hospital, a regional 750+ bed tertiary care center as well as an outpatient surgery center, a rehabilitation hospital and associated physician offices. The clinical laboratory employees over 300 technologists, technicians and support personnel and performs four (4) million tests per year. Our annual volume of surgical pathology cases is over 34,000 with 5600 non-GYN cytology cases, 1355 FNAs, 241 bone marrow biopsies and 26 autopsies. In summary the practice is busy and has a wealth of interesting and chalenging cases.
