Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJMC) is one of the clinical and academic hubs of North Shore-LIJ Health System. Serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and the Long Island Campus for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, LIJMC offers modern facilities for medical, surgical, dental and obstetrical care while offering world-class cardiology, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, orthopedics, head and neck oncology, urology, gynecology and vascular programs. The 48-acre campus has three major components: Long Island Jewish Hospital, Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center and The Zucker Hillside Hospital.
Anesthesiologist Director of Acute Pain Service.
Responsibilities:
This will primarily be a general anesthesia position that will administratively oversee the acute pain team.
Leading this subdivision of 4 other practitioners and partaking in pain rounds throughout the week
Strong midlevel support- 3 PA’s,
Keeping up to date with the latest pain literature and practices in order to support the department in aspects such as education and policies
You will be relieved from the OR in order to do this.
Pain Cases:
The majority of the pain census includes IVPCA and post-operative epidural and spinal management,
Occasionally will manage peripheral regional anesthesia catheters which is a possible area for growth.
No chronic or interventional pain or pain clinic responsibilities.
General Anesthesia Cases:
General Surgery, Orthopedics, OB, Gynecology, Urology, Vascular, Thoracic, Neurology, Gastroenterology, ENT, Head and Neck. Strong regional program and the procedures that come along with it.
Cases are performed in the OR and ASC.
Call:
General in house call on average 3 times per month inclusive of weekdays and weekends"
