Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIU SOM) in Springfield, Illinois is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology with a subspecialty focus in Vascular Neurology. This is an exciting time to be a part of the growth and expansion of a regional neuroscience program. SIU SOM offers a dynamic, challenging, busy and satisfying position within the School of Medicine. As a member of the Department of Neurology at SIU SOM, the incumbent will represent the Department in a manner to enhance its patient care, educational, and research mission. This faculty member reports to the Chair of Neurology and Director of the Division of Vascular Neurology. With this position, there are leadership opportunities available. SIU SOM has received national recognition for innovation in medical education and offers a welcoming environment for dedicated clinicians who love to teach. The neurology department is well known for its innovative research and clinical therapeutics. SIU SOM is affiliated with Memorial Medical Center and St. John's Hospital, serving the central and southern Illinois communities with a catchment area of over one million people. The incumbent will serve as a member of the inpatient stroke team at Memorial Medical Center and participate in neurology weekend call at both hospitals, Memorial Medical Center and St. John's Hospital.

Highlights of the position and area include: Developing and maintaining a vascular neurology practice which includes tertiary activities in the treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of stroke patients. Work with other members of the stroke team in the development of a Comprehensive Stroke Center at Memorial Medical Center and tele-stroke program. Qualifications:

Board eligible/board certified in Neurology and board eligible/board certified in vascular neurology; completion of one year of vascular neurology fellowship training required.

Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the state of Illinois.

Associate Professor requires at least 5 years of experience in academic stroke practice and appropriate academic, service and administrative accomplishment.
