A midwestern School of Medicine and the Department of Orthopaedics seeks a board certified/board eligible physician for the spine service who has experience in internal medicine, hospital medicine or family medicine, qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice with easy access to the Pittsburgh International airport. The focus of this position will be pre-operative optimization and selective inpatient peri-operative management. Other responsibilities include medical student and orthopaedic resident education. Clinical and research opportunities in the department are readily available. This position is an expansion of our established Orthopaedic Medical Optimization Program. Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of primary care. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, it is expected that candidates sustain an outstanding, extramurally supported research program. Qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted medical license. Candidates must be board certified / eligible in internal medicine or family medicine. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
