A BC/BE Radiation Oncologist is needed for UPHS's employed team. Candidates will be well supported by modern technology, 2 board certified physicists, 2 board certified dosimetrists, 5 board certified radiation therapists, 2 RN’s, and an office liaison. The Cancer Center houses both radiation oncology and medical oncology in the same suite. Candidates can expect initial patient loads of 25-35 patients per day covering a comprehensive variety of external beam radiation therapy treatment sites using everything from 2D to IMRT to Stereotactic Radiosurgery techniques.

The current technologies available at this clinic are the following:

  • Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator with CBCT, Gating, 120 leaf MLC, 6D couch.
  • AlignRT Patient Surface Monitoring System
  • Toshiba Large Bore CT scanner with 4D imaging capabilities
  • Eclipse treatment planning system – IMRT, RapidArc, SBRT, MLC-based intracranial SRS
  • Well established SBRT program with the recent addition of prostate SBRT utilizing the SpaceOAR technology.
  • Fully paperless environment with ARIA electronic medical record

The oncology program at Upper Peninsula Health System Marquette has accreditation by the American College of Radiology Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation (ACR ROPA), American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACOS CoC), and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Other supporting services include two on-site cancer navigators: one breast/colon and one lung navigator, oncology social worker, a cancer research nurse, tumor registry, and dietician. The institution has an active tumor board that meets weekly. We are a member of the Duke Cancer Network with strong ties for patient care support, programmatic development and clinical research initiatives.

The potential to start an HDR brachytherapy program is also currently on the table and the candidate will directly participate in the decision to move forward with that service.

Overall this position provides an exceptional opportunity for quality of life while still providing the fulfilment and challenge of a robust and high technology department. The area is known for its exceptional beauty and many recreational activities in all four seasons.
