**OBGYN opportunity: Philadelphia, PA** - FQHC facility **About the Job** - Full-time - Permanent position - Two openings available - Employed - Provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecology services in both the ambulatory and inpatient/hospital-based settings. - Age group is without upper or lower limits. - Develops/expands the scope, efficiency and quality of obstetric and gynecology services. - Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities. - Provides services, as directed, at facilities other than location in the event that an incident that compromises the safety, security or integrity of the United States of America should occur. **Clinical Responsibilities** - Performs routine well-woman care and initiates comprehensive, preventive care. Provides prenatal care, delivery, and post-partum care; gynecologic care; and contraceptive management, utilizing all methods currently available including tubal ligation and IUD insertion/removal and methods that may become available in the future. - Evaluates symptoms/complaints and performs examinations and tests necessary to make an accurate diagnosis. - Based on the diagnosis, develops and implements an appropriate course of treatment and follow-up, including appropriate therapeutic measures, referrals, prescriptions, hospitalizations, etc. - Incorporates primary care services into patient care, according to Group's clinical guidelines. - Performs outpatient colposcopy with or without biopsy, treatment of cervical pathology (e.g., cryotherapy, laser therapy, leep) and inpatient management of gynecologic disorders, including but not limited to: infertility evaluation, laparoscopy, hysterectomy, D&C, endometrial biopsy and other gynecologic procedures, STD management and management of malignancies of the reproductive system. - Provides case review and discussion with other Group medical staff; review and signature of Group's OB/GYN protocols; and telephone availability for discussion of cases. - Provides appropriate follow-up, counseling, and health education services to patients and their families. - Works closely with the health center's allied health staff in providing comprehensive coordinated care to families. - Admits patients to a Group-affiliated hospital (except in cases of emergency) and manages peripartum and inpatient care. - Provides back-up physician services, as required, to other clinical services in the health center when those physicians or midwives are unavailable. - Provides medical care to patients when such care is requested by supervisor or required; examples include coverage of a physicians or midwifes inpatient service-both rounds and procedures-, acceptance of patients admitted from the Emergency Room, and coverage of public health screenings or health fairs. - Maintains medical records in accordance with standards for the problem-oriented medical record. - Maintains confidentiality of information about patients and their families. - Meets or exceeds the outpatient productivity objective of 3 patients per hour in order to ensure access to care. - Adjusts practice patterns to maximize cost-effectiveness without compromising quality of care. - Participates in on-call responsibilities. **Administrative Responsibilities:** - Adheres to all policies, procedures, and protocols governing infection control, disposal of infectious/hazardous waste, and handling of hazardous materials. Follows guidelines and instructions detailed in OSHA/Infection Control Manual - Adheres to all policies and procedures concerning fire safety, management of medical emergencies, natural disasters, and other safety concerns, according to protocols, guidelines and instructions detailed in Clinical Policies and Procedures Manual and all other manuals concerning such issues. - Performs CPT and ICD9 coding, completes encounter forms, and participates in all systems/procedures for billing, revenue enhancement, and data collection. - Provides all documentation for and performs administrative activities relevant to the acquisition and maintenance of managed care contracts. - Submits documentation of deliveries and all inpatient procedures in a timely manner to designated staff, utilizing a mutually agreed upon format. - Evaluates clinical support staff upon request. **Requirements** - Local candidate required with active PA licensure - Experienced and new grads welcome - BC/BE - Start date: ASAP **About Medical Group:** - Medical group is a JC/NCQA FQHC, outpatient only/ambulatory care network of Philadelphia health centers with a staff of 600 providing medical, dental and behavioral health services - Medical group maintains a dual Joint Commission accreditation in Medical and Behavioral Health.
