NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, located on 135th Street in Manhattan, is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center and is recognized for providing centers of excellence in the areas of Bariatric Surgery, Breast Imaging and Sexual Assault Forensics. Our teams provide services for nearly 213,000 outpatient visits, more than 83,000 emergency room visits and over 13,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains an academic affiliation with Columbia University Medical Center.

Harlem Hospital Center has been certified as a Baby-Friendly hospital by the World Health organization. The OB/GYN service has a 24-hour pain management service with five birthing suites and a 17-bed inpatient unit. We have a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In FY14, the OB/GYN service had over 1000 live births.

Responsibilities:

  • The Attending Physician evaluates and manages all patients admitted to the Obstetrical and Gynecological service.
  • The Physician supervises the care given to patients by the mid-level providers.
  • Provide night, weekend and holiday coverage as assigned. Night coverage is four (4) to six (6) per month and one weekend per month.
  • When assigned to Labor and Delivery, the Attending performs rounds in the labor room.
  • When assigned to Gynecology, the Attending admits and discharges patients during daily bedside rounds.
  • Will respond to the emergency room and in-patient consultations and will complete all required consultation forms.
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement activities.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school.
  • Completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in a RRC or AGME accredited residency program.
  • Has an unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Board Certified or Eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
