OB/GYN - 24-hr call
Open Dates: September 13 (8am) – September 23 (8am)
One provider required for this assignment.
· Is this hospital based or Clinic and Hospital? On-call Services Only
GYN questions:
o # of pts in clinic per day Varies…only if called by Emergency Physician
o Will I be working with mid-level provider? AHMC does have 2 Midwifes, but they would not typically be on when you were on-call
o Clinic supplies/inventory for office procedures? (IUD’s, Nexplanon, colposcopy etc...) N/A
o Will I be covering ER Gyn consults? Yes
o Will I be covering at night? Yes, 24 Hour Call. Only need to come to the hospital if needed.
o Who will assist me in OR? Varies. CRNFA, Midwife, General Surgeon.
o Sophistication of laparoscopy equipment
o General Surgery back up in the event of bowel/bladder injury or unexpected complication in OR Yes
o EHR? Meditech
· OB questions:
o # of deliveries per mo/per year Approximately 150 deliveries per year
o C-Section rate Primary c-section rate (20%), Repeat c-section rate (60%)
o who assists with C-Sections? Either an Advanced Practitioner (CRNFA, PA, or CNM) or the General Surgeon on-call.
o do pre-term/high risk pts stay or are they transferred out? Transferred to UVM Medical Center, Burlington, VT
o MFM back-up for high risk pts UVM MFM
o % of the mix of OB vs. mix of Gyn
o How many CNM’s (Certified Nurse Midwife) 2
o Do I take first call or does the CNM? Physician
o When I am on call, is it in house (i.e. Laborist) or via pager call back. Pager call back
