EPILEPTOLOGIST NEEDED IN GROWING YOUNG EPILEPSY CENTER
BE PART OF SOMETHING MORE
The Hartford HealthCare (HHC) Epilepsy Center has experienced tremendous growth and is looking for a colleague to join in our mission of improving the lives of people with seizures throughout the state. We have a collaborative and inclusive model of care, striving to support providers offering personalized, coordinated care with excellent patient experience. Our center has developed all the specialized diagnostic and treatment tools needed to help people with seizures get more out of life.
In the outpatient environment, we offer the full range of EEG types, 3T MRI, functional MRI, PET, Wada test, and epilepsy focused neuropsychological evaluations. On the inpatient side we have a state of the art Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) in an ABRET accredited EEG lab staffed with registered EEG technologists. We offer SPECT studies with high quality image processing. We perform intracranial EEG monitoring, paired with sophisticated brain reconstruction software for exquisite electrode localization and seizure interpretation.
Our team includes 8 epileptologists in the greater Hartford area, and 1 in Bridgeport, as well as 2 epilepsy trained neurosurgeons. The behavioral health of our patients is attended to in collaboration with our social worker and psychiatrist. Our care model is strengthened by a group of outstanding advanced practice providers.
We are a warm and welcoming group of people with a very collaborative mindset. We enjoy a private practice approach in the clinic balanced by an academic program structure. The UConn neurology residency program clinical training is based at Hartford Hospital and the program director is one of our epileptologists. Furthermore, HHC offers excellent support for research. As epilepsy specialists we meet regularly to discuss complex cases, review EEGs, discuss journal articles, and share ideas.
We seek a board certified or eligible epilepsy trained colleague to join in our journey to care for the people of Connecticut. Duties will include outpatient care for people with epilepsy, including EEG reading, and rotations in the EMU and LTM schedules.
HHC offers you practice opportunities in expertly managed, robustly resourced subspecialty clinics and seven thriving hospitals throughout the state. HHC’s hospitals consist of Hartford Hospital (Hartford, CT) an 867 bed tertiary care academic medical center and Joint-Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Center/Stroke Gold Plus achievement award winner, St. Vincent’s Medical Center (Bridgeport, CT), The Hospital of Central Connecticut (New Britain, CT), Backus Hospital (Norwich, CT), MidState Medical Center (Meriden, CT), Windham Hospital (Willimantic, CT) and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (Torrington, CT). In each you can expect to join welcoming, mentoring colleagues and a professionally enriching environment.
Located between Boston and New York City, our statewide locations are in the heart of New England’s most stunning and desirable communities, offering nationally acclaimed schools and exciting year-round recreation. Choose to live at the shore, in vibrant urban areas, or in a Kiplinger’s “Top 10 Best City to Raise a Family” or Travel & Leisure’s “Coolest suburb in America”. So you will love heading to work and heading home.
