Job Description

Last Update: 11/16/22
Docstar Medical is looking for an outpatient Neurologist for a client of ours in New Hampshire, they are looking for 2+ weeks a month, seeing 13-15 patients a day, as well as reading EEGs and EMGS.

If interested please attach an updated CV and the best time to chat.

Primarily due to unexpected medical leave for 1 of our 2 neurologists. Doc may be out till 9/1 or perhaps longer or return then with a reduced schedule.

We have minimal capacity to absorb/reschedule such patients with our other neurologist, translating into about 3-3.5 months of patients to be seen by a locum.

Amount of coverage: ideally multiple consecutive weeks, working 4 or 5 days per week. Maybe 3-4 weeks on, then a week or two off. If 2 weeks on/2 weeks off, would be ideal to share with 2 docs so we had more coverage.

We anticipate 2-3 days/week here at AVH and 2 days/wk at UCVH in Colebrook. Colebrook is about 75 minutes north, and we know such time is paid. We would prefer the Colebrook days to be longer (e.g., 9 am to 4-5 pm clinic with a lunch break, plus travel) and some of the AVH days to be shorter to yield about 40 paid hours/week and no OT.

If agency or candidate is not interested in that, the UCVH clinic time would be limited (2.5 hours driving, 0.5 hours lunch, 5 hours clinic). Our estimate is that we will need about 14-16 weeks of coverage, perhaps more.

Mix of patients is probably 30% new and 70% follow up (initially from neurologist who is out, later some from the locum him/herself). Schedule would be 30 min for f/u and 60 min for new patients for first 2 weeks, then 20 min f/u and 40 min new. EMR is Meditech Expanse at both hospitals. Clinic support is MA and perhaps part of an RN. 98% of work is clinic; 2% is inpatient consults.

No call

Patient type is general neuro (headache, stroke, movement disorder, neuropathy, MS, Parkinson's, dementia, etc.).

No procedures are required. Lumbar punctures (diagnostic) can be done by anesthesia. Other neurologist does NCS, EMG, and EEG so not required. EEG might be nice but not a must.
