The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine, established in 2015 and located in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, a semi-tropical area known for rich culture, wildlife and economical living conditions, is expanding rapidly. The UTRGV SOM prioritizes social responsibility, respect, dignity, advocacy and community service – with a mission to improve health, and life, at the individual and community levels.

The Department of Pediatrics at UTRGV School of Medicine is seeking a fulltime Faculty for Pediatric Neurology. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to part of building a program. An additional faculty in Pediatric Neurology is being recruited to be Division Chief. A recent $10 Million gift is establishing a neurosciences institute. The hired individual will be expected to work collaboratively with that program. The successful candidate(s) is/are expected to maintain a clinical practice, supervise residents and teach medical students and develop an area of scholarship.

They must also maintain an educational environment conductive to education for residents and students in each of the ACGME/LCME competency areas. We also value experience with underserved populations such as is found in the Rio Grande Valley. Improving the health of the children of the Rio Grande Valley now and for future generations is our goal.

The Departmental goal is to expand the clinical practice across the lower Rio Grande Valley and develop outstanding educational and scholarly activities for medical students and a growing program. Applicants must be BC/BE in Pediatric Neurology possess or be eligible for a Texas medical license, qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the UTRGV School of Medicine and appropriate hospital staff appointments. Demonstration of strong commitment to the education of residents and medical students is essential. Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with academic credentials.
